Archive Notes
These boxes belonged to the era of detachable collars and cuffs. Instead of laundering an entire shirt, the collar and cuffs could be removed, washed, starched and replaced separately. They were such a normal part of menswear that manufacturers produced purpose-built boxes to keep them clean and organized.
Now a beautiful little trunk to store whatever you want.
Jewelry, trinkets, secrets, etc.
The gold surface has rubbed a bit throughout, and the interior satin is frayed / pulling away in some places.
