This large and heavy sarcophagus is covered with hundreds of individually applied beads and opens to reveal a mummiform figure inside. The figure can be completely removed and displays together as a miniature funerary ensemble. Ancient Egyptians created beaded funerary nets that were laid directly over the wrapped body of the dead. They weren't simply decorations, the beads were part of a belief system surrounding protection, rebirth, and making sure the dead successfully reached the next world.
